In Concert: Summer Tunes

Great summer concert series aren’t limited to Chastain. So when the sun starts setting, grab a blanket, fill a cooler, and head to one of the many shows in neighborhood parks across the metro area. (In most cases, even Fido can come along.)

Concerts on the Square
Saturdays in May at 7 p.m., plop down on the grass in the courthouse square for a mix of jazz, indie, and local singer-songwriters. Past acts include Americana/bluegrass blend Roxie Watson.

Glover Park Concert Series
Dance the night away to beach music, swing, rock, and country bands at 8 p.m. on the last Friday of every month through September. This year’s lineup includes beach music band the Tams.

Summer Nights in Norcross
Kicking off Memorial Day with the Loose Cannons—the U.S. Army Ground Forces Band’s rock group—these Thrasher Park concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. every other Friday through September. Bands include A1A, a Jimmy Buffett tribute group.

Riverside Sounds
Known as the “mini Chastain,” Riverside Park will host country-rock, indie-folk, and blues bands the first Saturday of every month through October at 7 p.m. Past performers include Kingsized, the popular Elvis tribute band.

99X Unplugged in the Park
Sundays at 7 p.m. from June 6 to October 24, Park Tavern will showcase high-profile acts such as Michelle Malone. Ages twenty-one and up only, and leave food, drinks, and the pup at home.
