Hills & Dales Estate
The estate of Fuller E. and Ida Cason Callaway (whose offspring donated the land for Callaway Gardens) features a 13,000-square-foot home designed by architects Neel Reid and Hal Hentz. Boxwood parterres frame one of the best-preserved 19th-century gardens in the country.

Lockerly Arboretum
Located in Milledge­ville around an 1852 home called Rose Hill, Lockerly has an American Conifer Society Reference Garden. Also see camellias, Japanese maples, and native plants.

Smith-Gilbert Gardens
