Hills & Dales Estate The estate of Fuller E. and Ida Cason Callaway (whose offspring donated the land for Callaway Gardens) features a 13,000-square-foot home designed by architects Neel Reid and Hal Hentz. Boxwood parterres frame one of the best-preserved 19th-century gardens in the country.
Lockerly Arboretum Located in Milledgeville around an 1852 home called Rose Hill, Lockerly has an American Conifer Society Reference Garden. Also see camellias, Japanese maples, and native plants.
