When was Atlanta’s worst snowstorm?

On January 23, 1940, 10.3 inches of snow blanketed the city. Workers, including 1,200 inmates of the Fulton County jail, cleared streets and, according to the next day’s edition of the Atlanta Constitution, “telegraph messenger boys delivered messages on skis.”
