Hugh Connerty, formerly affiliated with Antico, and his brother Jason opened the doors to Ammazza pizzeria on Monday. Located in Old Fourth Ward on Edgewood Ave., Ammazza opens everyday at 5 p.m. and will serve until midnight Sunday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Instead of importing all of their ingredients from Italy, the brother duo opt to use local ingredients whenever possible. Among their local fare, their mozzarella is made in house. Ammazza’s menu boasts pizza fritta, “the real street food of Naples,” and cannolis stuffed to order.
