Why let kids have all the fun? Here are some adults-only recreational leagues. Most offer a range of divisions from low-pressure to ultracompetitive, so you can find a team whether you’re fresh off a college roster or just off the sofa.

Basketball
League: Georgia Sports Leagues
Season: Year-round
Where they play: Gyms in Doraville, Dunwoody, and Sandy Springs
When to register: Anytime
Cost: $65/person; $495/team (no roster limit)
Age: 18+
Gender: Men’s and women’s leagues
Most common injury: Exhaustion
Post-game tradition: Oxygen and pain medication
Uniform: Reversible jersey or T-shirt

Bocce

Cricket

Where they play: Various fields, including locations in Roswell, Alpharetta, Sugar Hill, and Marietta
When to register: 2nd and 3rd weeks of March
Cost: $150–$750/team (depends on tournament)
Age: 18+
Gender: Co-ed league (but so far, only men have played)
Most common injury: Back spasm, pulled hamstring
Post-game tradition: Young players go to the bar; older players go home to family
Uniform: Jersey and shorts or track pants

Dodgeball
League: ZogSports

Most common injury: Hurt pride, broken or jammed fingers
Post-game tradition: Whitehall Tavern for cheap pitchers and aggressive rounds of a drinking game called “Chandelier”

Flag Football

Gender: Men’s, women’s and co-ed leagues
Most common injury: Pulled hamstring
Post-game tradition: Tailgating

Kickball
League: World Adult Kickball Association
Season: Year-round
Where they play: Cobb Park (Smyrna), Hammond Park (Sandy Springs)
When to register: Through game 2 of season (best at least 2 weeks before)

Gender: Co-ed league
Most common injury: Pulled hamstring, twisted ankle
Post-game tradition: Varners in Smyrna or the Bird in Dunwoody to grab some pitchers and start the pong, cornhole, and flip cup challenges

Soccer

When to register: 6–8 weeks before start of season

Post-game tradition: Piedmont goes for totchos and beer buckets at the Nook; Central Park heads to Midtown Tavern for a rematch via flip cup or giant beer pong
