Although it may be known as the oldest wallpaper company in the country—founded in 1886—Thibaut has grown into a modern one-stop shop. In addition to an extensive line of traditional, contemporary, and whimsical wallpapers, the showroom also offers fabrics, trims, custom upholstered furniture, case goods, and, most recently, a line of custom area rugs.

“Many people, including designers, do not know about all of our offerings,” says Thibaut Atlanta Showroom Manager Kelley Hutchinson. “We’re truly full-service, with the latest performance technology, a wide array of fabrics, and unique prints. We’re a sweet spot in the industry for quality and value.”

Thibaut prides itself on marrying the company’s rich history with a contemporary approach to design. When coming up with new fabric and wallpaper lines, a team of in-house designers often reaches into the archives to find original Thibaut works, which they update with fresh colors and a modern twist. “It’s interesting to see what lends itself to today’s audience,” Kelley says. “We’re not strictly traditional anymore.”

In 2007, the company acquired Anna French, a wallpaper and fabric brand inspired by the English countryside. And four years ago, it purchased Coraggio, a textile and wallcovering brand known for its Italian-inspired craftsmanship.

Thibaut’s furniture is built to last. “We do not take shortcuts,” Kelley says. “Our pieces are meant to be reupholstered and passed down through generations.” All custom upholstery and case goods are shipped from the company’s North Carolina workrooms, meaning shorter lead times. Designers can choose from nearly 400 grasscloths and vinyls when customizing case goods like coffee tables, consoles, and desks; they can select any of Thibaut’s fabric offerings when customizing upholstery items.

The company recently introduced the Fairhaven collection, which is rooted in the late 19th-century Arts and Crafts movement and inspired by artworks of stylized botanicals. “The collection features large-scale patterns reimagined with a joyful spirit,” Kelley says.

In October, Thibaut will launch the Mural Resource collection, which will debut six murals and reintroduce three cherished favorites—Jardin Bloom, Twilight, and Wild Wisteria. “It will serve as the ultimate designer resource,” she says. “Our murals have always enjoyed a strong reputation in the design industry, but their popularity has soared in recent years.”
