Playable Art Park Photograph by Ryan Hayslip
Back in 2011 the Sandy Springs Conservatory teamed up with Art Sandy Springs to solicit artists’ plans for sculptures that double as playground equipment. The six winning designs were installed as part of the Playable Art Park at Abernathy Greenway, which opened in 2014, and you can jump and climb on every piece. Meanwhile Piedmont Park is home to the Noguchi Playscape , designed by renowned Japanese American sculptor Isamu Noguchi and commissioned by the High Museum. The colorful, modernist slides and swings opened in 1976 and were refurbished in 2009.
