Instead of shushing young visitors, Woodruff Arts Center is finding new ways to reel them in. This summer you can get up close with original artworks by The Very Hungry Caterpillar author and illustrator Eric Carle at the High Museum, or head across the piazza to the Alliance Theatre to see a new musical inspired by Carle’s book Pancakes, Pancakes! At Woodruff’s large, free family festivals—jointly presented by the High, the Alliance, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra—you can participate in art- and music-making workshops, try out instruments, view special performances, and learn more about the artists (the next festival is June 12). And every Sunday afternoon, there’s free kid-friendly programming.
