Frank Poe’s four decades of convention industry experience helped him land the role of Georgia World Congress Center executive director in 2010, following stints in Orlando, Birmingham, and Dallas. Since then he’s made moves to attract new business to the nation’s fourth-largest convention center. Most recently he’s spearheaded fundraising efforts for a possible $46 million expansion of Centennial Olympic Park, the downtown centerpiece GWCC oversees as part of its 220-acre campus.
Sports authority Since signing on with GWCC, Poe has played integral roles in keeping the Falcons downtown and luring the College Football Hall of Fame to a former GWCC parking lot. Plans are also brewing for a new high-rise convention hotel to replace the Georgia Dome.
