For the past decade, Flanagan has run Atlanta-based money management firm Invesco. With more than 6,000 employees, Flanagan’s operation last year oversaw nearly $800 billion in assets for clients in more than 150 different countries. But to gauge the CEO’s local influence, look no further than his chairmanship of the Atlanta Committee for Progress, a group of Atlanta leaders that advises the city on key policy issues and has the ear of Mayor Kasim Reed.
