MomoCon started 14 years ago as a tiny event at Georgia Tech. Now the convention draws more than 30,000 attendees and is aimed at a younger audience more focused on anime and video games than its mammoth sister convention, Dragon Con.

Despite several relocations, the ascendance of Amazon, and the yearly pop-up Halloween superstores, Costumes Etc has been an Atlanta mainstay for more than 25 years. Its formula? A massive inventory (55,000 items) and solid customer service.

This year's Dragon Con brought a whopping 80,000 people to downtown Atlanta, and as usual, the costumes were impressive, the skybridges were jam-packed, and the Peachtree Center food court was chaotic. Here are some of the trends we noticed this year.

Now that Dragon Con has gone the way of the old Marriott Marquis carpet for another year, here’s a look at some of the absolutely amazing, creative, and hilarious costumes that adorned its attendees.

Atlanta's annual celebration of all things geek turned 30 this year, drawing an estimated 75,000 fans into downtown over Labor Day weekend. As usual, the cosplay was impressive, the crowds were monstrous, and the people-watching was unparalleled as we wandered the host hotels for some 45 hours over the course of four days.
