Hen Mother’s second location in downtown Alpharetta is twice the size of the original location at 110 seats and brings new offerings to the table. When it comes to the menu, guests can expect to find most of the same items as the Johns Creek location, with the exception of the energy bowl and a more streamlined omelette offering. Exclusive to the Alpharetta location are the breakfast tacos and oat pancakes, as well as the addition of chicken and tuna salad sandwiches at lunch.

Each new year in Atlanta brings with it the promise of new places to eat, drink, and, for 2024 in particular, play, thanks to new concepts from Justin Amick and William Stallworth (Painted Hospitality), a cabaret at the Works, and a 1990s-themed cocktail bar in Dunwoody—to name a few.

It’s no secret chefs hate brunch. In his 2000 book, Kitchen Confidential, Anthony Bourdain famously disparaged the booze-laden meal that’s not quite breakfast, not quite lunch—and not much has changed in the decades since. “I would be shocked if you were to find a chef who likes it,” said Zach Meloy, the former chef-owner of Better Half, which shuttered in 2018.
