We Atlantans take certain things for granted: Chick-fil-A, good hip hop music, the Georgia Aquarium, and IKEA. Thirty years ago this month, the mega-sized Swedish retailer opened its first store in the U.S., outside Philadelphia in Plymouth Meeting. The company has launched a social media campaign and sweepstakes, #IKEA30in30win, for fans to share memories across the years.

Closer to home, it was ten years ago this month that IKEA opened its first store in the Southeast U.S., at Atlantic Station. It’s hard to believe that was a decade ago, though the years add up when I count the number of college dorm rooms that I furnished there for my sons. Truth is, I hadn’t been to IKEA lately. In honor of the anniversaries, I decided to make another visit. Here are my favorite finds.
