The low-slung former ranger station and law office had ugly interiors, but that didn’t deter Laird and her husband, Matt Bunting, from transforming the building into their dream mountain getaway.
Loving all things midcentury, Laird Memory and her husband, Matt Bunting, updated their circa-1951 ranch off Collier Road while keeping the era’s cool vibe. The remodeled dining room (which was once a porch) features 11-foot-tall ceilings, oversized windows, and some sassy decor.
As a veteran of home shows such as HGTV’s Elbow Room and Wise Buys, interior designer Kristen Fountain Davis excels at creating spaces that pop. For this kitchen she layered the sultry black cabinets with a custom hood, a white quartz–topped island, and large-scale brass lanterns, plus some striking upper shelves.
Who wants to eat steak while smelling fish? I like the cocktails at Amer, but must the entire bar smell like a grilled cheese? Please, get a better vent hood. Plus, I worry that we’re overlooking chef Allen Suh, who has a knack for turning Asian food on its head.
