The Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC) has long been recognized as the Southeast’s premier destination for interior design, providing a one-stop resource for designers, architects, and builders to access high-end furnishings, textiles, and other home décor products. Located in Atlanta’s prestigious Buckhead community, ADAC has evolved significantly since its founding over 60 years ago, adapting to meet the needs of an ever-growing design community. Most recently, ADAC announced a major expansion, further solidifying its role as a hub for creative professionals in the region.
In response to increasing demand, ADAC is expanding The Design Studios at ADAC, adding 17 new designer and architect offices. This expansion will cover 12,500 square feet on the second floor of the ADAC campus, bringing the total office space to 50,000 square feet and increasing the number of studios from 26 to more than 40 across ADAC and ADAC West. These new offices are part of a larger initiative to foster collaboration and creativity among design professionals.
The new offices, scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2025, are located directly on ADAC’s campus, offering immediate and convenient access to shop the many product lines and showrooms onsite ADAC has to offer. The offices will include modern amenities such as shared conference rooms, unisex bathrooms, a break room with a kitchenette, and a communal area. Positioned conveniently near The Hungry Peach café, the studios will feature plenty of natural light and a layout designed to facilitate both work and networking.
Katie Miner, General Manager of ADAC, expressed her excitement about the expansion, noting that the decision to add more studios was driven by overwhelming demand. “This expansion goes beyond offering improved space; it’s about cultivating creativity, encouraging collaboration and innovation, and shaping the future of our environment at ADAC,” Miner said.
This initiative underscores ADAC’s commitment to staying at the forefront of design innovation, providing flexible workspaces tailored to the needs of designers and architects who benefit from proximity to more than 1,400 product lines and 65 showrooms. ADAC’s tenants also have access to a range of amenities, from on-site dining to event spaces that allow them to host clients and work on projects with ease.
Currently, ADAC’s campus consists of over 550,000 square feet of space, divided between ADAC and ADAC West. This includes 65 showrooms and a variety of design studios, which offer products ranging from furniture, fabrics, and lighting to wall coverings, antiques, and kitchen and bath products. Over the years, ADAC has been a driving force in the Southeast design community, frequently hosting events, workshops, and exhibitions that draw top designers and architects from across the region.
The center’s commitment to supporting designers extends beyond providing physical space. ADAC hosts highly anticipated events every year, including DESIGN ADAC and DISCOVER ADAC, spring and fall markets that celebrate creativity and innovation in the design world, Spring and Fall Sample Sales that are open to the public and trade and the Southeast Designers and Architect of the Year Awards. These events not only spotlight the work of talented professionals but also foster a strong sense of community and collaboration within the design industry.
The expansion of The Design Studios is expected to have a significant impact on the local design community. For many designers, the appeal of having a studio at ADAC extends beyond the convenience of being close to showrooms and product lines. The center offers a unique ecosystem where professionals can collaborate, network, and stay up to date on the latest trends in design. With this latest expansion, ADAC continues to solidify its status as a vital resource for the design community in Atlanta and the broader Southeast region.
