GardenHood
Located in Grant Park, GardenHood is dedicated to urban gardening, though it’s also known for specialty plants from exotic locales like Indonesia, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
Switch Modern
You’ll never find a knockoff here. This is as close as Atlanta gets to Milan, with iconic modern brands like Flexform, Edra, and Poliform. Venture all the way to the back of the expansive Midtown showroom for outdoor furniture by Gandia Blasco and accessories by Kartell, Alessi, and the surrealist French company IBride.
Redefined Home Boutique
Here, ordinary objects such as old medicine bottles, typewriters, and cameras become fine art. Classic furniture, case goods, and lighting come with unexpected twists—such as chandeliers modeled after birdcages. Owner David William D’Ambrosio’s past work in Costa Rica, Italy, Spain, Venezuela, and Guatemala gives his designs an international flair.
Savvy Snoot
For more than a decade, this high-quality consignment shop has sold “snooty brands for savvy prices.” The eclectic offerings include a mix of consigned goods and found objects from national shopping trips. Check out the design services, ready-made curtain panels, and owner Marty Mason’s Collected Home line of custom furniture and upholstery. Multiple locations.
South of Market
Atlanta designer Kay Douglass opened this showroom after she went on a buying trip to France and wound up with excess inventory. She was among the first to repurpose industrial artifacts, and SOM still creates fabulous fixtures and furnishings out of utilitarian items like zinc buckets and fan blades. More recently, the store has added vintage midcentury furniture and exclusive accessories like sleek white porcelain vessels and richly colored wool throws.
Stanton Home Furnishings
Last year Stanton expanded into the space next door, and it now sprawls over nearly 14,000 square feet. Light fixtures—geometric, modern, industrial—and upholstered armchairs are particular strengths, though owner Jimmy Stanton has always had a knack for accessories of the moment, such as framed slices of agate and white porcelain urns. Also check out his smaller boutique at 1044 North Highland Avenue.
Steve McKenzie’s
From colorful Blenko glass to R. Wood pottery and Mitchell Black’s graphic black-and-white china, the tabletop selection shines even brighter in this store’s new location near Miller Union restaurant. But don’t let the serveware distract you too much; there’s still elegant Grange wooden furniture and finely tailored upholstery and textiles by the store’s namesake artist, whose studio is upstairs.
Insidesign
This full-service interior design studio is intended as a resource for both homeowners and builders. The showroom contains hardwood flooring, cabinetry, and custom architectural finishes like moldings, doors, and stairs. But you’ll also find upholstery, lighting, and modern accessories.
