The team behind Rice Restaurant and Sushi Bar in Cumming plans to open Eight Sushi Lounge on the Westside in August. Located at 930 Howell Mill Road in the Brady development, Eight will be “more elegant and refined” than its family-friendly sister spot, says spokesperson Windy Soenarto.

Partner and executive chef Handy Soenarto, formerly of Rice and Geisha House, will prepare Japanese-style eggs Benedict, langoustine, sashimi, miso-glazed steak, and seared scallops, as well as sushi rolls.

Eight will have a full bar with a focus on sake—twenty varieties to choose from. The Soenartos are working with Master Sake Sommelier Koji Aoto to refine the menu. Ty Taylor, formerly of the Porter Beer Bar and the Wrecking Bar Brewpub, will manage the beer, wine, and cocktails. Designed by Plexus R&D, Eight will seat about 100, not including the patio.
