101 Concepts, the team behind Cibo e Beve, Food 101, Smoke Ring, and Meehan’s, is opening a steak and seafood spot called 101 Steak in Vinings in May. Joseph Ahn, formerly of Soho, will lead the kitchen, working with executive sous chef Ryan Smith, previously of Southbound. Their menu will be centered around high-quality cuts of certified Black Angus beef and fish brought in multiple times a week from Florida. “The area is definitely in need of a steakhouse. There’s so much growth with the corporations and the baseball team coming in 1.5 miles down the road,” co-owner Steve Buero says.

For dinner, 101 Steak will offer items like oysters, royal red shrimp, wild salmon, and charcuterie made in-house. The majority of the steaks and seafood will be served a la carte, and diners can pair them with sides like creamed spinach and kale, roasted local mushrooms with extra virgin olive oil, bruleed creamed corn, duck butter home fries, and macaroni and cheese with bacon.

Steaks, salads, and sandwiches will be prominent on the lunch menu. Think reubens, corned beef, and honey-glazed pastrami. There will be oxtail ravioli, local smoked pork chop with root beer gastrique, and linguine fruit de mar. For brunch, 101 Steak may offer a buffet with carving stations, and a Bloody Mary and mimosa bar.

Matthew Higby, of Trattoria One.41 in Alpharetta, will spearhead the bar program, creating cocktails made with fresh juices. There will be 30 varieties of scotch and bourbon available, and more than 100 wines (about 80 of them will be from California) by the glass. “The space is a cross between Ralph Lauren and the Rat Pack,” Buero says. There will be leather booths, a 30-seat bar, plus a patio, raw bar, and private wine room.

101 Steak replaces chef Paul Albrecht’s Social Vinings at 3621 Vinings Slope.
