web-bhp_5502Founded in 1926 by Eva Edwards Lovett, The Lovett School is an Atlanta independent school serving children in kindergarten through grade 12.

With an emphasis on the whole child, Lovett provides integrated experiences in academics, arts, athletics, and service through an education grounded in learning, character, and community.

Lovett’s reach extends beyond the Buckhead neighborhood—students come from 70 different zip codes across Atlanta—and even into Central America, where Lovett maintains 825 acres of Ecuadoran cloud forest as a preserve and research center.

Exclusive research partnerships with the Georgia Aquarium and Atlanta Botanical Garden give our students authentic research web-bhp_6261and lab experiences in marine biology, botany, and genetics.

Lovett was also one of the first schools in Georgia to offer AP Chinese, the culmination of a Chinese studies program that begins in the Lower School. Additionally, makerspace labs, which includes access to the school’s theater set workshop, modeling software, 3D printers, laser cutter, and a lathe, allow students to tackle real world problems.

WHAT’S NEW For the 2016–17 school year, Lovett opened its third iteration of a community makerspace—1,800 square feet dedicated to robotics, including 3-D printing, electronics, and laser cutters. Lab Atlanta, an honors-level academic semester for public and private school 10th graders, will offer its first class in January 2017. Lovett faculty and students worked with a landscape design team to redesign the lower school playground, which was completed in early August. Additional renovations include a new admission suite and an academic resource center.
