Sugar Benders Bakery
No, it’s not really popcorn. Veronica Estrada has been crafting custom cakes at her bakery since 2012 and produces 25 to 30 works of art a week. She’ll make anything—90 percent of her custom cakes are original designs—but what could be cooler than this? The kernels are airbrushed marshmallows, and the bucket is covered in fondant. Customers can pick the cake’s size and base flavor (from kiwi to lavender cream), but Estrada suggests sticking to chocolate or vanilla for the kids. Order at least one week in advance. 255 Village Parkway, Marietta

Is that a cake, or a limited-edition Air Jordan? The sweet designs by mother-
daughter team Maggie and Katie Sweeney are so life-like that you’ll have to eat them to believe them. 477 Flat Shoals Avenue

Piece of Cake
Piece of Cake doesn’t do custom birthday cakes, but it does offer a funfetti flavor. Soft, spongy, and smeared with vanilla cream cheese frosting, the colorful cake comes in two or three tiers. Multiple locations
