Life right now is kind of like a countdown to the premiere of the final season of Breaking Bad on August 11. But some Atlantans haven’t had to wait that long for a glimpse of Aaron Paul (who plays the show’s meth-addled but loveable Jesse Pinkman), who’s been in town filming a movie about fast cars called Need for Speed. A sneak peak (below), released Monday, shows more cars and less Paul than I’d like to see, but there are a few scenes with ho-hum highway landscapes that might resemble the area around Macon, where much of the movie was shot.
Over the past month or so, the actor has allegedly been spotted at Antico Pizza (Atlanta’s so-called celeb hotspot of late—Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd, Conan), Tin Lizzy’s, and the Soggy Shaky Knees Music Festival. But of course none of this meant very much to me until I spotted him myself Tuesday night, sipping on red wine at Inman Park’s Barcelona, his arm draped casually around his exquisite new wife.
Naturally, the encounter inspired some friendly Twitter stalking. Turns out, Paul loves us! Atlanta, that is. With five exclamation points! What’s more, he tweets like a normal person, asking for pizza joint recs and local proms to crash. He also reports he’s “not making meth” here, which presumably means we should not expect a Breaking Bad Atlanta edition.
