The fine arts program at the Lovett School expanded its Design and Production curriculum this fall, allowing students who begin the program in eighth grade to study for five full years. The additional year concentrates on scene design and provides enough flexibility for students to explore sound and lighting as well. Students and faculty will work together to design sets for the middle school show this fall and to stage another play in the spring. Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to work on more than a dozen productions, which helps them build strong portfolios. All shows are staged in the school’s state-of-the-art Hendrix-Chenault Theater, where the sound, lighting, and video systems are new within the past three years. Approximately 40 students enrolled in the course this fall. lovett.org
