As managing partner at North American Properties, Toro has a reputation as a developer who sets ambitious targets and hits them. In 2012, when it was little more than a hole in the ground, he declared Avalon—the massive live/work/play community in Alpharetta—would open on October 30, 2014. And it did. Although Avalon is OTP, Toro’s biggest imprint is intown. A tireless online proselytizer for walkability, public transit, and connectivity, Toro (who lives in Midtown) has overseen apartment developments near the Atlanta BeltLine, outfitting them with “gigabit” Internet speeds.

On the block After NAP bought a chunk of Atlantic Station, the mini-city experienced a full-scale revival and is reportedly up for sale.
