In our January issue, we named “Indian patisserie” Spice to Table‘s Kerala-style fried chicken one of our 13 Favorite Feel-Good Dishes in Atlanta. Next week, you’ll have the chance to eat it—perhaps for the last time in a while—and simultaneously do some good.

February 24 will be the cafe’s last day in operation, and owner Asha Gomez told us yesterday she’ll use that last meal as a fundraiser for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). She’ll serve her famous—truly famous—fried chicken and biryani from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., and diners “can pay what they like,” she says. “All proceeds will go to ACLU.”

“It’s a celebration of my community,” says Gomez, who will continue to focus on running her event space, the Third Space. Gomez will also launch a line of teas and, ultimately, spices, as part of her new lifestyle brand DYAD.
