Atlanta jazz scene’s “embarrassment of riches”
“Holy crap, the talent in this city!” Vinnie Dagostino says. “You have no idea how deep the bench goes here.” Veterans of Atlanta’s music scene may wax nostalgic for the bygone era of the jazz club, when greats and aspirants alike flocked to five-nights-a-week venues. Shows are more spread out now, Dagostino notes. But for those willing to follow the music, a bounty of treasure awaits.
Brazilian spot Buteco rebrands into Butaco
As of October 7, Brazilian spot Buteco is now Butaco, serving Latin tacos, beans, rice, and street corn. The Grant Park bar, located at the Beacon, will continue to operate its food program from its food truck, only now it will feature chef Timothy Rufino (Lazy Betty, Juniper Cafe) in the kitchen. Carl Gilbert, also of the award-winning restaurants, is involved in the project, too.
East Atlanta Village’s Southern Feed Store food hall announces its first tenants
The former Graveyard Tavern space in East Atlanta Village is undergoing a transformation. In a couple of months, the 6,000-square-foot building will become a mini food hall with six stalls, a stage, and live music.
