Chef’s Tableware is the ceramics shop all over many Atlantans’ “for you” page on TikTok. From its New Peachtree Road warehouse, Chef’s Tableware offers handcrafted plates, cups, and bowls, sourced from Thailand, that look like they’re from Anthropologie but sell for a fraction of the price.

A coffee shop built on grandmotherly memories opens in Chamblee

At Stellow, coffee is rooted in memory. Owner Clinton Perry built the Chamblee espresso bar to recreate the feeling of being a kid in his grandmothers’ homes—spaces that felt soft, welcoming, and personal. The newly opened coffee shop draws from those memories, honoring both women with a design, menu, and ethos rooted in nostalgia and care.

Laylo Cafe brings adorable desserts and coffee to Chamblee

At first glance, the pastry case at Laylo Cafe in Chamblee resembles a knitting shop more than a cafe. It’s filled with balls of yarn and tiny sweaters in colors like rose and ivory. Of course, they’re actually entremet—layered mousse cakes. When I cut into a cream-hued ball of “yarn,” l discovered layers of Earl Grey mousse, cassis jam, and a shortbread base. The exterior looked like it would be a hard shell, but it’s actually soft cream.

The beer is now flowing at Chamblee Tap & Market, with food and coffee coming soon

Like many local businesses, Chamblee Tap & Market got its start in 2020. To stave off boredom and loneliness, friends David Heymann and Jeff Kimmel started meeting outside to sample and rank different beers. They called it “Beer Club Sundays.” They fell in love with their pandemic project and joked that they should turn it into a business.

What to expect from distillery and music venue Block & Drum, opening in Chamblee in the fall

Atlantan Justin Staples worked for Bacardi and consulted for other spirit companies and vineyards. He admired the way Napa Valley vineyards invite visitors into their space and walk them through the wine-making process from grape to drink. In contrast, he noticed that distilleries used most of their space for production, saving only about 15 percent for tasting and sales. He’s set to offer a different take on a distillery with the opening of Block & Drum in Chamblee in the fall.
