The “village” part of this neighborhood’s moniker (aka EAV) isn’t just a cutesy realtor-invented label. This diverse, walkable pocket of the city exudes a small-town feel while boasting distinctly urban offerings, from hipster-filled tattoo parlors and late-night bars to flower shops.

The King of Pops founders, brothers Steven and Nick Carse, are at it again. The cocktail-slinging, Christmas tree-selling, crop-growing popsicle makers are opening a mini farmers market called the King of Crops Farm Stand at Ponce City Market on Saturday.

This medley of Mediterranean flavors comes off more as a warm salad than a pasta main. Salting and roasting the eggplant ensure that the texture will be tender, not rubbery. Serve it with grilled lamb chops or a steak.
