Asante to open in former Peasant Bistro space November 10

Marvin Woods—a chef with twenty-five years of experience including Café Beulah in New York and the now-defunct Spice in Atlanta—is opening a “coastal soul” restaurant in the Luckie-Marietta district of downtown Atlanta on November 10. Called Asante, which means "gratitude" in Swahili, the restaurant combines influences from the Caribbean, South America, Central America, Africa and the southern states.

Campagnolo founder to open Henry’s Midtown Tavern in late May

Maureen Kalmanson, founder of Campagnolo and the recently closed Peasant Bistro, is set to open another restaurant this month in what some might consider a doomed location late: the freestanding building on 10th Street between Peachtree and Juniper streets that previously housed the short-lived Mint3 Thai & Sushi Bar, and Tenth Thai Cuisine & Lounge before it. Kalmanson named her forthcoming venture, Henry’s Midtown Tavern, after her dog.

Shane Devereux leaves TOP FLR for Peasant Bistro

Shane Devereux confirmed today that he's left his position as executive chef at TOP FLR to join Peasant Bistro as partner and executive chef. Devereux had been a central role of a growing group of restaurants that include TOP FLR, the Sound Table, and, most recently, the Lawrence. Devereux explained that disagreements with TOP FLR and Sound Table co-owner Jeff Myers were part of his decision to leave. He remains a partner of the Lawrence.
