You wouldn’t necessarily expect a “battle royale” theme at a literary event. But it’s what makes Write Club Atlanta—a spirited competition in which two of the city’s best wordsmiths go head-to-head—so exciting. Writers are assigned opposing themes (light versus dark, young versus old) ahead of time and given seven minutes each to perform their original compositions. The audience’s boos and cheers decide who wins. The showdowns take place on the second Wednesday of each month at the Highland Ballroom. 644 North Highland Avenue, writeclubatlanta.com
