Grand Champion BBQ will open its first full-service location in the heart of historic Roswell at the end of April. With outposts in Milton, Krog Street Market, and on Shallowford Road, the new location will feature an expanded menu and bar program. “We’re focusing on craft beer, bourbon, and barbecue—the best things in the world,” says co-owner and Roswell native Robert Owens.
In addition to the plates of brisket, smoked chicken, and pulled pork, the kitchen will also serve bowls of mac and cheese mixed with a choice of protein, a smoked chicken salad with cranberries, and a romaine salad with a blend of cheddar and jack cheese.
The new location will also have a craft cocktail program and an extensive spirit list, curated by 101 Concentrics veteran JD Doyle. The new bar menu will showcase lesser-known spirits from across the globe, and include “a peat meter and a few other things” to ease diners into the world of craft liquor. “Out in the suburbs, we see everybody just doing the same stuff,” Owens says. “We want to do something a little more fun where people can experiment, but still feel safe.” The bar will also feature wine and craft beer, including selections from Roswell’s Gate City Brewing Company.
The restaurant will seat about 40 people inside and 50 outside, and will feature ironwork accents made by local blacksmith, Jason Smith. All the meat will be smoked on site, and the restaurant will be open seven days a week.
Update 4/20/16: This story has been updated to include Grand Champion’s third location on Shallowford Road.
