If “Quidditch,” “muggles,” and “expecto patronum” are part of your everyday vocabulary, you’ll fit right in at Hamp & Harry’s. The restaurant and bar, opened by the McCray’s Tavern team in Marietta Square in 2021, recently launched a Harry Potter takeover. This is no small spell—the restaurant has been decorated from floor to ceiling and its menus revamped in true the-Boy-Who-Lived style. Available through November 2, offerings include a drink for each house, Thursday night trivia, and a Mandrake Trifle.

“We went all out,” says beverage director Stephen Steininger. “We’re trying to set ourselves apart. People are looking for something unique. We wanted to pick a movie franchise with a big cult following.” Translation: They solemnly swear they are up to no good.

In the main bar, there’s a Quidditch field complete with grandstands and a scene with He-Who-Must-Not-Be Named chasing Harry on a broomstick. The Hogwarts Express steams down a wall in the dining room with Ollivanders wand shop nearby. Upstairs, the High Note cocktail bar has been transfigured into house common rooms with the Gryffindor tapestry in one and a lurking basilisk in another. Even Moaning Myrtle might approve of the men’s bathroom, which features a scene from potions class.

Items on the main menu have been enchanted with new names (think Gillyweed Salad, Mad Eye Meatballs, and Devils Snare Pasta). There’s also a not-so-secret kids’ menu for little wizards and witches-in-training, featuring House Elf-friendly portions of chicken fingers, a burger, and pasta.

Desserts are pure Honeydukes whimsy. The Sorting Hat Crème Brule assigns your house with different colors and flavors. Quidditch Pitch comes complete with a Golden Snitch cake pop and dark chocolate Bludger bites, while the Mandrake Chocolate Trifle looks so good you may forget to cover your ears before digging in. Butterbeer is served frozen, hot, or “up,” take your pick—no spell required.

For bigger thirsts, the Goblet of Fire cocktail is designed to be shared (though Dumbledore would warn you: drink wisely). Even the cocktails have been sorted. The House Cup Ceremony Sips are designed to reflect the personality of the house. “Slytherins are cunning and angrier, so we did an absinthe mojito with anise. Hufflepuffs are sweet and nice, so we did a lighter tiki-style cocktail,” Steininger explains.

Gillyweed is made with Malfy blood orange, Gabriel Boudier nori seaweed liqueur, Bitter Bianco aperitif, lemon, orange, and orgeat.

On most nights, food and drinks are sold a la carte. However, on Wednesday nights, High Note offers a three-course Harry Potter dinner-and-a-movie event for $100 per person. It includes four cocktails or mocktails, and every course replicates the meals the characters are eating on screen at the time—basically right out of the Great Hall. Reservations are currently sold out, but the wait list is open for those willing to channel their inner patience potion.

Guests are leaning into the theme harder than Hermione prepping for exams. “People come dressed in their robes, and bring their wands and hats, taking selfies all over the restaurant,” Steininger says.

Even the waitstaff is spellbound into theme, sporting uniform-style white button-down shirts and house ties. Every staff member has been officially “sorted,” so you’ll know if your butterbeer was delivered by a brave Gryffindor, loyal Hufflepuff, witty Ravenclaw, or sly Slytherin.

That’s mischief managed.

Slytherin house cocktail is comprised of La Fee Blanche Absinthe Supérieure, Cocchi Americano, bubbles, and mint.
