Is your husky looking a bit, er, husky? Send Rover right over to the Dog Jog, timed one-mile and 5K races at Dunwoody’s Brook Run Dog Park that are open to all breeds, plus their human companions (who can qualify for the Peachtree Road Race). “Last year, a German shorthaired pointer won for the overall male [division], but I’ve seen people haulin’ butt with a little schnauzer,” says Louis Geneos of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. Registration fees ($20 for the one-mile race; $30 for the 5K; $15 for additional dogs) benefit VetHeart of Georgia and Canine Companions for Independence.

On the calendar On May 2, lap around Brook Run Dog Park at the Atlanta Dog Jog, a Peachtree qualifier. atlantadogjog.org

* Technically, Fido must remain on-leash during the race.
