Already making their way in the business as an earlier wave of Asian American restaurateurs retires, many young AAPI chefs have been further emboldened by the pandemic and the spa killings to embrace their identity and culinary traditions, inserting their own family narratives into a scene that—for their parents’ generation, at least—had been largely arranged around the preferences of white diners.
Atlanta's restaurant scene is a resilient one, and despite the pandemic, many still have plans to open their doors in 2021. Here are a few we're eagerly anticipating.
Can Atlanta one-up the landmark openings in 2015 that included Krog Street Market, Ponce City Market, and Staplehouse? Unlikely, based on what's been announced, though there will be plenty that's new to eat and drink in the coming months.

Guy Wong, chef and owner of Miso Izakaya and Yum Bunz, will begin selling his take on the ramen burger at Miso's bar Wednesday evening. (He originally planned to launch the burger Tuesday.) Twenty ramen burgers will be up for grabs—and only at the bar—Tuesdays through Saturdays, with orders being taken at 9:30 p.m.
