49. Joystick Gamebar

Arcade-themed bars may have surged in popularity in recent years—but when Joystick opened its doors, and its Mrs. Pac-Man machine, to Edgewood Avenue in 2012, it was a revelation. But Joystick is still going strong as a self-identified “nerdy dive bar,” complete with such classics of the old-school arcade genre as Galaga, Mortal Kombat, and Space Invaders for only $0.25 a game—made all the more enjoyable with the bar’s boozy slushies, picklebacks, and cans of local craft beer. (Note: kids are also welcome here before 8 p.m., and the bar offers a roster of housemade sodas for the under-21 set.)
