Ocean Prime Seafood & Steaks to cast its latest line in Buckhead this fall

That constant swirl of construction dust at 3102 Piedmont Road has all but obscured the former site of the late, lamented Sambuca Jazz Cafe in recent weeks. As our ATL Food Chatter columnist James Oxendine first reported this week, this fall, the address will pop back onto the dining scene radar with the first Atlanta location of Columbus, Ohio-based restaurateur Cameron Mitchell‘s Ocean Prime Fish Steaks Cocktails concept.

Reps tell us the supper club concept will offer “the highest quality seafood, steaks, handcrafted cocktails and world-class wines” beginning this October. A sneak peek at executive chef Jason Shelley’s menu includes Scottish salmon, Florida snapper and blue tilapia seafood offerings, along with bone-in filets and Kansas City strips for the red meat crowd.

With eateries in Columbus, Louisville, Phoenix, Detroit, Orlando, Dallas and Denver already flourishing, Mitchell says an Atlanta expansion makes sense. “Atlanta is an international restaurant market with an incredible array of dining options,” he explains. “My goal is to help Ocean Prime put its mark on Atlanta by delivering great food and genuine hospitality.”

Signature items on the Ocean Prime menu in Troy, Michigan include appetizers like white truffle caviar deviled eggs ($10), Point Judith calamari with sweet chili and candied cashews ($14) and aged Wisconsin cheddar fondue for the table ($12). Ocean Prime’s trademark dish is the crab-crusted blue tilapia with french beans and fingerling potatoes ($27). Meat lovers, meanwhile, have the option of a 16 oz. Kansas City strip ($40).
