Words don’t often fail me, but they can’t express how much inspiration I derive from the Southern Foodways Alliance events I’ve attended. There’s always so much camaraderie, and fantastic food, and so many smart presentations that remind me how deep and rich the veins of Southern culture run.
So the good folks of the SFA are at it again in Athens on Saturday, August 22, when they’ll be hosting one of their traveling “Potlikker Film Festival” evenings. Tickets are $45, and it that sounds steep, consider that it’s a whole evening of rockin’ chow from local chefs, as well as live music and short films. And lots of suds from Athens’ Terrapin Beer Company. If you’re never been to an SFA event before, this is a great way to meet the gang of regulars. Soon you’ll be trekking to Oxford, MS for the annual symposium event. See y’all in Athens.
