Arts patronage met creative expression against the backdrop of the Flowers & Seeds Gala, an annual fundraiser for the African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta (ADAMA). The event, which celebrated Black art and culture from across the African diaspora, honored sculptor Curtis Patterson and painter Hasani Sahlehe with the Nellie Mae Rowe Award, supported by the Judith Alexander Foundation.

Sekou Thornell could be considered a creative Swiss Army Knife. As the creative director and founder of Atlanta-based streetwear label Kitboys Club, he fuses apparel design, photography, and videography to exalt his earliest passion: soccer. This year, he’s a recipient of Adidas’ Honoring Black Excellence award, a program that honors the artistry and accomplishments of Black collectives and community leaders.

The fashion world descends on SCAD’s Atlanta, Savannah, and Hong Kong campuses this week for the 12th annual SCADstyle. The weeklong series of lectures and conversations (chaired by Imran Amed, founder of fashion news site Business of Fashion) brings together glossy magazine editors, A-List fashion and interior designers, and industry insiders. And you don’t have to be a student to mingle with the crowd; all events are open to the public, and most are free.
