This December marks the second annual Wrecking Bar Strong Beer Fest. Hosted at the brewpub (which we named Atlanta’s Best Bar in our August issue), every beer is 8% ABV or above, and every brewery is based in Georgia.
Last year the festival featured more than 30 beers—this year, Wrecking Bar owner and brewer Bob Sandage says attendees can expect more than 50 high-gravity beers, some of which will make their debut at the event. Strong beer fans will have a lot to choose from—Creature Comforts will pour their Willet Bourbon Russian Imperial Stout coming in at 11.5%; SweetWater’s California Woody is a brett saison aged in a cabernet barrel (10% ABV).
Part of ticket proceeds will go to the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild, the nonprofit that is looking to build support and draft new legislation on Georgia beer laws.
See below for a peek at the Strong Beer Fest’s initial beer list release. Sandage says the list will continue to be updated.
