When quarantine first struck our house, my dad and I applied all our free time to a single mission: learning how to master the ideal murgh makhani, or butter chicken. We take our butter chicken very seriously. What started as a comfort food to order for dinner soon became a research opportunity to see how our recipe stacked up against those of nearby restaurants—and so my dad and I have sampled a good fraction of the curries in the Atlanta area. If you’re tempted to make the foray into Indian cuisine (and can’t make it to our house to try some), I highly recommend the butter chicken from one of these restaurants instead.

Flavor Rich is now open for all-day brunch in Midtown

Flavor Rich began as a food truck and opened its first brick-and-mortar location in Suwanee in 2020. Now, Angelica Finley and Christopher Fletcher have opened a second location across from Emory Midtown. With double the number of seats, a larger kitchen, and the addition of a 12-seat bar, Flavor Rich Atlanta can offer reservations, an all-day brunch menu (rather than separating breakfast and lunch like in Suwanee), and seasonal craft cocktails.

Ray Bitzel has been hand-making truffles since he was a child, helping his mother who operated a baked goods store. When he got older, he studied chocolate-making in Belgium before opening Bellejais Chocolatier in Kennesaw. His original shop shuttered in a trademark dispute, but Bitzel never lost his passion for the creamy indulgence. He’ll open Bitzel’s Chocolate, a 7,000-square-foot factory, educational experience, and retail store serving gourmet chocolates, bon bons, bark, truffles, and more.
